Further down, these dragon coloring pages show grown dragons perched on castles, flying over the sea and drinking from a waterfall. Patterns fill every scale on the last few, which teens and adults enjoy. Magic animal fans can head next to our unicorn coloring pages.

Are Dragons Real?

Dragons are make-believe. People told stories about them thousands of years ago, all around the world. European dragons usually have big wings and breathe fire. Chinese and Japanese dragons are long like a snake, fly without wings and bring good luck. One real animal is called the Komodo dragon. This giant lizard lives on a few islands in Indonesia, and it cannot fly.

Picking Colors for a Dragon

No dragon color is wrong. Green and red are favorites. Try a dark shade on the back and a lighter one on the belly. Give the wings their own shade so each one pops. For fire, start with yellow near the mouth and add orange and red toward the tips.

Frequently asked questions

Could a dragon page frighten a small child?

Not likely. On every cartoon sheet the dragons smile, and the grown dragons look calm. Nobody gets hurt anywhere.

Start small kids on the baby dragon face, the hatching egg or the kite. All three have wide spaces to fill and bold lines to follow.

Any Chinese style dragon in the set?

Sheet 26 is an eastern dragon. Its long body has no wings, and it wears whiskers and a flowing mane.

Which ones take the most time?

Plan on an hour or more for the pattern dragon or the mandala wings. Sharp colored pencils help with the small parts.
