Making Owl Eyes Look Bright

Owl eyes are big, so they are the first thing people look at. Each eye has a tiny white dot inside it. Leave that dot white and color around it, and your owl will look bright and awake. Many owls have yellow or orange eyes with a dark middle.

Owl Coloring Pages with Night Scenes

Some of these owls are out at night under the moon and stars. You do not have to color the sky dark. Leaving it white makes the owl easy to see. If you want a night sky, use a light blue and leave the moon white so it looks bright.

Frequently asked questions

Can owls turn their heads all the way around?

Not all the way, but almost. An owl can turn its head much farther than a person can. It needs to, because its eyes cannot move like ours do.

What is the owl with the heart-shaped face?

That is a barn owl. It has a white face shaped like a heart and soft golden brown feathers on its back. You can find it on the page with four owl faces.

Are the pointy bits on top of some owls' heads their ears?

No, they are just feathers. An owl has its real ears hidden on the sides of its head.

Are owls awake during the day?

Most owls sleep in the day and come out at night. The snowy owl is different and hunts in the daytime too.
